Wow, okay, so here’s the deal: sometimes the PlayStation Store, yeah, it’s got these sales that are either absolute gold or total, well, you know. Anyway, there’s this sale happening now — up to 75% off, and it’s a mix of good stuff and, um, not-so-great stuff. One game that’s caught up in this whirlwind is Anthem. Yeah, the action RPG from BioWare. Kinda surprised me.
### BioWare’s Anthem: A Love-Hate Thing
Alright, so here’s the kicker: Anthem is slashed to $4.99. Crazy, right? It usually sits there at $19.99, but hey, act fast or miss it — until May 22, just before 3 a.m. I only realized this after checking the store late at night with my brain half asleep.
So the game blurb, or whatever you call it, says you can squad up with three buddies. Apparently, you get rewards for doing stuff together. Sounds like a team-building exercise at work, but with cool exosuits and maybe more fun. And it’s got one of those storylines — like, dramatic and full of strange folks to meet. They say matchmaking is seamless, but I’ve felt more like a rusty hinge sometimes. Who hasn’t, though?
I remember when Anthem dropped in 2019. People had opinions like, loads of ’em. The folks at Metacritic threw out a 59 — not mind-blowing, but not terrible either, sorta like lukewarm coffee. Our own thoughts? Yeah, we gave it a 7 outta 10. So, it’s like that movie you sorta like but probably wouldn’t sit through on a first date.
Honestly, how I hoped Anthem would crush it. But it’s like those breakfasts where toast is overdone, and the jam just feels wrong. Sometimes it’s brilliant, then bam, it’s just dull. And man, it doesn’t always feel like it came from BioWare. You know?
Still, Anthem managed to grab some eyeballs even before it hit the shelves. Imagine getting all these award noms before people actually, well, played it? Most Wanted Game from the Golden Joystick Awards in 2018, and some others. It even bagged Best PC and Action Game awards at some critics event. But that was all before the grand debut. Go figure.
