Nintendo’s fresh console, the Switch 2, has landed, and now gamers are pretty much living in two worlds. Yeah, the original Switch is everywhere — like seriously, it’s got a massive crowd — but trust me, the die-hard fans couldn’t resist the shiny new Switch 2. Although, I gotta say, there aren’t a whole lot of exclusive games for it yet. But hey, it lets you play your old Switch games too. It’s like, you’ve got access to an entire universe of games.
So, people are tossing their hats in everywhere with this new Switch 2. I’m not shocked, loads of games still mainly aim for the OG Switch. I mean, deciding which game to play can be like trying to choose a favorite candy out of a jar of a thousand. Especially on weekends when you just wanna kick back and dive into some gameplay.
Now, about what you should be playing this weekend. If you’re looking to marathon some Nintendo magic, I’ve got five games you should totally consider. These aren’t necessarily made by Nintendo, but they’re all about the Switch vibes, ya know?
Patapon 1 + 2 Replay
Oh man, talk about nostalgia overload. Patapon and its sequel — these were top-tier on the PSP back in the day, mixing rhythm with side-scrolling adventure. They’re basically getting a makeover for modern consoles, but it just feels right nailing those beats on a Switch. Even better, there’s multiplayer just for the Switch version. No official nod for a Switch 2-specific release yet, but it plays fine thanks to backward compatibility.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
System Shock 2, the legendary horror game, is back. This remaster — by Nightdive Studios — it’s got multiplayer now. Having this classic in your pocket? Such a treat. Some bits of it are… well, a bit outdated, but reviews are saying it still rocks. It’s finally on a Nintendo platform, making now the perfect time to experience its sci-fi horror goodness.
Super Mario Odyssey
A classic, right? Dropped with the original Switch, and now it’s resurfacing in conversations. Why? ‘Cause the team who worked on it is tackling Donkey Kong Bananza next. Until that hits, diving back into Odyssey’s creative worlds is a no-brainer. Packed with challenges and one of the top-rated for a reason. Look out, Bananza, you’ve got big shoes to fill.
Super Mario Strikers
Quick note — this one’s for Switch 2 owners. It’s a nod back to the GameCube days, blending soccer with Mario madness. Play as beloved characters, use power-ups, and yes, you can play online or with buddies locally. It’s considered a gem for multiplayer fans, so it’s a must-play for the weekend.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
Both Switch versions get in on the action. A brand new launch, reviving classics 3 and 4 with fresh graphics, controls, and online play. If you’re sticking with the original Switch, you’re not missing much — there’s a free upgrade to Switch 2. Swapping between nostalgia and modern flair never felt so smooth.
So, there’s my two cents on what to jump into on your Switch (or Switch 2, if you’re fancy). Happy gaming! 🎮
