Ugh, so here’s the scoop—EA, the big fish in the publishing world, is finally pulling the plug on Anthem. Yep, come January 12th, 2026, say goodbye to that game. Honestly, not sure why I care, but it’s news, right?
Anyway, they put up this blog post saying no more buying in-game currency. You can still use whatever shiny coins you’ve got stashed away, though. Why they’re even keeping it alive till then is beyond me. Maybe there’s a good reason. Or maybe they’re just dragging their feet. Who knows.
Oh, and they were all like, “Thanks for your dedication and support!” Which made me chuckle a bit. I mean, was there really much dedication? Anthem kind of tanked hard after launch. But hey, gotta appreciate the effort, I guess?
Now, like, they claimed no one’s getting the boot because of this, but I can’t help but wonder. Will people lose jobs later? Maybe, maybe not. Corporate stuff is so murky. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.
So, Anthem was supposed to be this mega live-service game from BioWare and EA back in 2019. Big dreams, big plans, but it kinda… flopped. And then all this gossip about messy development came out. Because of course, right?
By the end of 2019, BioWare was all, “We’re gonna fix it!” but, spoiler alert: they didn’t. Anthem Next was supposed to be the savior, yet that train never left the station. Guess that’s a wrap on another gaming what-if.
And that’s it, I think. Or maybe there’s more. But, nah, that’s all I got for now.
