So, I was just surfing through some online game stores, kind of lost in the sea of games, like, everywhere you look there’s another platformer. Like, how do you even stand out? Shovel Knight, Celeste, they did it somehow, right? Anyway, I ended up at PAX East 2025, and bam! Love Eternal caught my eye.
This game is like a love letter — literally. Made by siblings. They poured their hearts into it. And it’s wild considering their life story, moving from Oregon to LA, and those crazy wildfires. Plus, the game’s got this vibe. Ever seen Perfect Blue, the anime? It’s got that feel. Totally in the narrative.
You start as Maya. You chat with your family in this cozy home, then bam, creepy call. Pick it up, hang up, and suddenly — poof, family’s gone. Step outside, and whoa, it’s all ancient and fragmented. Like, did I just time travel or something?
Moving on, you’re navigating this trippy world as Maya and, here’s the kicker — she can literally flip gravity! Sounds cool, but no free rides. You’ve got to land before flipping again. Reds stones here and there let you bypass this, kinda. Makes the puzzles wicked tricky though. And it gets harder, as the screenshots show. Thankfully, there are save points. Mess up? Try again. No biggie.
The creators, they want us players to think and feel every step with Maya. And yeah, the story? Expect some shocks. “Escape a castle built of bitter memories,” and something about “a suburban kid snatched by a lonely god.” Wonder what that even means! Four-hour tops and you’re done — gonna be a wild ride when it drops this year on Xbox One, Switch, PS4/5, and PC. Can’t wait to see what emotional rollercoaster Love Eternal will turn out to be!
