As 2025 kicked off, the Worlds Part 2 update brought players to more varied universes, packed with numerous quality-of-life enhancements, a reimagined lighting system, among other upgrades. These changes make the game almost unrecognizable from its original 2016 release. The dedicated team led by Sean Murray at Hello Games has consistently strived to meet and exceed player expectations. In a concurrent release, Hello Games launched update 5.055 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, alongside update 5.55 for older systems like PS4, Xbox One, and PCs. Among fixes are solutions to a memory management crash and adding collision improvements for biodomes. Notably, following the PS5 Pro release in late 2024, No Man’s Sky now supports an 8K mode, setting it apart as one of the few games with this feature on Sony’s latest console. Players can opt for an ultra-sharp 7680 x 4320 display at 30 FPS, or switch to 4K at 60 FPS, both offering significant visual enhancements thanks to the upgraded technology. Martin Griffiths from Hello Games praised the console’s capabilities at launch, expressing his delight at seeing his work come to life in stunning detail.
While the team is heavily involved with No Man’s Sky, they’ve also partnered with another UK-based developer. In December 2024, it was unveiled that Hello Games would publish ‘Stage Fright,’ a new cooperative game from Ghost Town Games, known for the popular Overcooked series.
