Oh man, where do I even start with this game? The Bloober Team, you know, those folks who make horror games that look super cool but maybe aren’t exactly adrenaline-packed? Yeah, them. They’ve been wowing us with those creepy vibes but sometimes you’re just like, can I fight back? Anyway, they did that Silent Hill 2 thing which had a bit more action, I guess. But now they’ve got Cronos: The New Dawn out, and it’s just… something else entirely, especially if you’ve been longing to confront the monsters head-on rather than just cowering under a table. Been there, right?
So, Cronos. Everyone seemed to be buzzing about it since the big unveil. Probably ’cause you watch the gameplay and think, “Wait, is that Dead Space?” Ha, fooled ya! It’s got its groove, something different going on. These enemies, they don’t just attack; they kind of merge together like… horror transformers? Yeah, weird, but stick with me. It cranks up the pressure mid-fight. One moment you’re handling it, and then—bam!—the stakes shoot up. Get this: You’re fighting them, but the dead bodies around can just become part of them? What a wild card! You better be strategic about where you’re duking it out or you’re toast.
You should’ve seen the latest gameplay. I swear, those dead bodies sort of glom onto new enemies like, “Nooo, come back!!” Makes you play smart, drawing baddies away so you’re not fueling a monster buffet. Resource scarcity adds to the spice; you can’t just run around blasting everything like a maniac. It’s more… cautious? Thoughtful? Tactical, they say.
Earlier this year, the directors had some chit-chat with us. They spilled the beans on why they’re pivoting to more action, while still keeping that eerie Bloober déjà vu alive. Guess they’re tired of just shadowy corridors too.
Oh, and before I forget—Cronos: The New Dawn is hitting PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. No official date yet, but look out for it this fall. Can’t wait to see what’s brewing.
