Mild spoiler alert for Death Stranding 2: watch your step So, Hideo Kojima, that dude who’s like the mastermind behind all those mind-bending games, he’s dropped a little nugget about planning a third Death Stranding. Yep, just while everyone’s buzzing over the second one, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. I’m not even sure if I’m ready for another round of this mind-warping stuff.
Alright, so the sequel to the 2019 smash-hit Death Stranding is hitting the shelves June 24. The suspense is real, with plots shrouded in, well, practically a fog. It’s set 11 months post-Death Stranding insanity. Sam Bridges, our guy, is chilling in Mexico with Lou, way too soon to call it “settling down,” if you ask me. June’s creeping up, and Kojima’s already yammering about what might come after.
Right in the midst of the anticipation madness — oh wait, backtrack — Kojima’s bringing out some big guns. Despite Death Stranding 2 not even gracing our consoles yet, he’s tossing around ideas. In a Q&A (because who doesn’t love a good Q&A?), he hinted at a Death Stranding 3. Some mechanic thing called Plate Gates, which, if I’m honest, sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel where wheels turn into teleportation devices or something. Somehow, it’s supposed to connect North America to Australia in the game. Fast travel, anyone?
But don’t get too hyped. Our guy Kojima is pretty clear there’s no script getting scribbled down for this third round. He simply mentioned, well, mumbled maybe, about passing the torch. Why? His plate’s loaded with other projects. Like this mysterious OD with Jordan Peele. (Now, THAT has gotta be something mind-bendingly spooky). We’re all ears with Zero details just painting curious images in our minds.
Seriously though, what’s next for the Death Stranding name after “On the Beach” blows our minds? Kojima seems ready to pack his bags and hop onto other projects. What after OD, you ask? Back to shadows and sneaky business with Physint. Partnering up with PlayStation Studios to create this espionage concoction, promising us both a game and movie. Double whammy!
